Phil Portuese helps lead Northwind’s accounting, financial reporting, tax compliance, and investor communications across the firm. Prior to Northwind, Phil was a Managing Director at BDT & MSD Partners, serving as Senior Controller across Real Estate Credit, Corporate Credit, and Real Estate Equity strategies. During his tenure, he managed the finance team and third-party administrators through the quarterly close process, drove new product launches, partnered with deal professionals on transactions and portfolio reporting, coordinated compliance filings, and advanced automation of portfolio and investor reporting. He began his career at Deloitte and holds a B.S. in Accounting (minor in Finance) from the University of Scranton. He is a CPA licensed in the State of New York.
